About

Former USA College Coaches (2008-2011): Scott Houle (head coach ), Kirk Adamson (ass. coach) and Paul Smith
Former Dutch Coach (2001- 2008): Sammy Monsels ( currently my mentor).
Education: On July 3, 2007, I obtained a Marketing and Communication diploma at Johan Cruyff College (Upper Vocational Education Level), as well as successfully completing the first year of the study Commercial Sports Economy at Johan Cruyff University. In both studies, it is possible to combine it with competing at a high sports level.
At the moment, I’m studying Business Management with an emphasis in Marketing at the Utah Valley University in the USA, in combination with a track and field scholarship on a Division One level.
Future: My most important sporting goal is qualifying and competing in the 2012 Olympic Games. I will also have to work hard at the future of my social position in this society. In the Netherlands and USA, sprinting athletics are not high profile sports, and very few people are able to solely focus on building a career through this sport. Nevertheless, the idea of becoming a professional athlete remains my ultimate goal.
But first, I will like to graduate with a degree.
Social projects: From the age of fifteen, I have been investing a lot of time, besides my sport and training, in contributing something on a social level to the young people in the community. I have done this mainly in the Netherlands, Amsterdam South East. At the moment, I’m helping with different service projects in the USA, which I enjoy doing a lot.
Modeling and Acting: Involved with modeling and acting since the age of 18 in the Netherland and currently in the USA.
Public speaking: I am involved with motivational speeches around the world. Read more via the option “speeches” on the website.
GoldenSprint Challenge Invitational: The meet, sanctioned by the USA Track and Field Association, is the dream of Akwasi Frimpong, 2012 Dutch Olympic hopeful and UVU student. He hopes to inspire more youth to participate in sports – especially track and field. To kick off this goal, he partnered with the Utah Olympic Oval to put together this meet, and future plans are to make this an annual international meet to promote local and international athletes. (See www.goldensprintchallenge.com).
well done, Akwasi. Wishing you all the best in your present and future endeavours.
Thank you very much Quamy.
